Polymer Competence Center Leoben GmbH (PCCL)

The PCCL is Austria’s leading centre for cooperative research in the field of plastics technology. In cooperation with companies in the plastics business and universities, around 100 highly qualified employees work on innovative R&D projects for a broad spectrum of applications. The main focus of activity is, on the one hand, on the analysis of working life performance and the age characterisation of polymeric materials and components; and on the other on the evaluation and qualification of new materials for the encapsulation of PV modules.

Forschungsbereich „Polymere Werkstoffe für die Photovoltaik“

Bereits seit 2003 laufen am PCCL Forschungsaktivitäten im Bereich der Photovoltaik, speziell zu polymeren Einkapselungsmaterialien für Solarzellen und PV Module. Der Schwerpunkt der Aktivitäten liegt einerseits auf der Lebensdaueranalyse und Alterungscharakterisierung von polymeren Materialien und Komponenten, andererseits auf  der Evaluierung und Qualifizierung von neuartigen Materialien für die Einkapselung von PV Modulen. Ein weiterer Fokus liegt bei der Untersuchung des Zusammenhangs zwischen Materialeigenschaften, Prozessparameter und PV Modulversagen.
